E. Everett Edwards
June 2, 1937 – June 6, 2013
E. Everett Edwards was born June 2, 1937, and died Thursday, June 6, 2013. He was the faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Everett was the loving husband of 55 years to Patricia Moore Edwards; son of Edgar E. and Ernestine Edwards of Norfolk, Va.; father of Stephen C. (Janis) Edwards of Nashotah, T. Scott (Barbara) Edwards of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Stacey Lee (Scott T.) Rice of Merton; and grandfather of Jacob E. and Zachary S. Edwards, William T. and Harrison W. Edwards, Caroline C. and Elizabeth W. Edwards, Samuel D. Michael S. and Joseph L. Rice.
Everett was a graduate of William & Mary College, Virginia. He was regional vice president of Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. in Hartford, Conn.; president of Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin; president of Mutual Group (U.S.) Employee Benefits; and served on the boards of Red Cross of Wisconsin, YMCA Metropolitan Milwaukee, American Heart Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Wisconsin, Heartlove Place, Community Warehouse, Hope Street, Christian Stewartship Foundation and a founding member of Christian Executive Organization of Milwaukee.
Upon retiring from the business world of Milwaukee, the people of the inner city became his passion and ministry. He taught the Bible for more than 40 years and served in many different capacities in each church he attended. He was on the board of elders in five different churches. He was presently a member and senior elder of Oakwood Church, Delafield. What a great resume in this life, but it is his love for and faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that finds him in the presence of God today; the only happy ending to a life well lived. We will miss him so much.
A celebration of his life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Oakwood Church, 3041 Oakwood Road, Hartland, WI 53029.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Mission Funds at Oakwood Church are appreciated.
