Jack W. Westphal, 90, of Centreville, Va., passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife,Bessie, and two sons, Stephen and Jack.
He is survived by four sons, Jerome (Darlene), David (Mary), Mark and Brian; a daughter, Marcie Tuggle; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Jack was born in Waukesha on Oct. 1, 1922. He was a radio instructor during World War II in the Army Air Force. He served the city of Waukesha as a police officer and lieutenant of detectives for 11 years. In 1960, he went to work for American Breeders Service in Madison and retired in 1983. Jack and Bessie moved to Virginia in 1986, where he began his third career as a medical courier for Quest Diagnostics. He retired after 27 years, on Feb. 1, 2013.
Memorials services were held Thursday, Feb. 21, in Herndon, Va. An interment of ashes ceremony will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha at 1 p.m. on April 26.
