George Fohey

George Fohey, 82, of Pewaukee, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien. George was born May 31, 1930, in Milwaukee, to George and Marie (Quigley) Fohey. He graduated from Marquette High School in Milwaukee. George served his country honorably in the Air Force during the Korean conflict while stationed in Alaska.

 

George was united in marriage to Judith Leshok on Oct. 11, 1958, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Four sons were born to this union. He worked for Allis-Chalmers in the payroll department for several years. He was a current member of St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha. George had a great personality and a gift for gab. He always had a funny joke to share with his family and friends. George was a kind-hearted Irishman who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

 

Survivors include his wife, Judith Fohey, Pewaukee; four sons, Dr. Mark (Kam) Fohey, Monona, Iowa; Brian (Jami Hotzfield) Fohey, Kenosha; Michael (Karen) Fohey, Burlington; and Greg (Lisa) Fohey, Glendale; seven grandchildren: Alexander (Erica Ells) Fohey, Jessica (Jacob) Wilke, Jordan (Elise Oldenburg) Fohey, Nicholas (Jordann) Fohey, Taylor Fohey, Dale Kimmel and Christopher Fohey; three sisters, Edith Payleitner, Neillsville; Jane Zajac, Milwaukee; and Sr. Brideen Fohey, Sinsinawa, and a host of other family members. 

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie Fohey; one brother, Gervase Fohey; and three sisters, Bernadine Zellmer, Rosale Hruska and a sister in infancy.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha. The Rev. Curt Frederick will be the celebrant.

 

Visitation will be held one hour before Mass time at the church on Saturday.
