Anna Mae Sjoberg (nee McGowan)

Anna Mae Sjoberg (nee McGowan) of Oconomowoc passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, surrounded by family and the caring individuals at AngelsGrace Hospice. She was born Jan. 27, 1942, to Thomas and Elizabeth McGowan in Arlington Township.

 

A graduate of Poynette High School, she worked at Wisconsin Bell until she married Eugene Sjoberg on Nov. 27, 1965. Anna spent her life caring for people, including her children and grandchildren. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Masonic Home in Dousman, and at Shorehaven in Oconomowoc. Anna enjoyed crocheting, cross country skiing and gardening.

 

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Sjoberg; mother, Elizabeth; father, Thomas; a brother, Edward “Bunny” McGowan; a sister, Clara McGowan; a brother-in-law, Edwin Moede; two nieces, Patty and Barbara; a nephew, Mike; and other loving relatives.

 

Anna is survived by her sons, Eugene II and Sean (Amy) of Oconomowoc; daughter, Kimberly (Marc) Peterson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Geraldine Moede of Oconomowoc and Elizabeth Sundt of Lake Mills; two brothers, Leonard McGowan of Waunakee and Thomas (Beverly) McGowan of Lodi; grandchildren, Abigail and Matthew Scheel; Ethan, Cole and Erin Peterson and Timothy and Audrey Klein; along with other beloved family and friends.

 

Visitation to be held from 10 a.m. until the noon service Saturday, March 16, at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home, 121 S. Cross St., Oconomowoc.

 

Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association and AngelsGrace Hospice.

 

The family especially thanks the wonderful and caring staff of AngelsGrace Hospice Center, ProHealth Care and Aurora Medical Center. The people there showed genuine concern, love and care for Anna throughout her life.
