Richard E. ‘Dick’ Amidon



Richard E. ‘Dick’ Amidon of Waukesha entered into eternal life Monday, April 29, 2013, at the age of 88. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy for 56 years; loving father of Johnny (Jan) Gaynor, Carrie Devine (fiance Gary Walorski), Patti (Bruce) Cummings and Colleen (Luigi) Stella; proud grandpa of Richard and Wayne Helmus, Ryan (Kim), Shawn and Katherine Devine, Lori Smith, Ryan, Chad (Lisa) and Jared Cummings, Kimberly (David) Krause and Chloe Stella; great-grandpa of 18 great-grandchildren; and dear brother of Carol Jorgenson. He is also loved and survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Gaynor, and grandson, Jeffrey Helmus.

Dick was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, enlisting in the service at the young age of 17. He had the privilege of attending the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

He was a 30-plus-year member of the Eagles Club.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 5:30 p.m. service Thursday, May 2, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha.

Private interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
