Quentin R. ‘Sonny’ Douglas

July 15, 1921 – April 25, 2013

Quentin R. “Sonny” Douglas of Oconomowoc passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the age of 91. He was born July 15, 1921, to Forest and Adella Douglas.

He married Viola B. Notbohm on April 10, 1948. She passed away March 24, 2011.

Sonny served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946. After the war was over, he was awarded the Bronze Star and a seven-day furlough to the French Riviera. Upon returning, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier until he retired in 1976.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Sonny and Vi spent the winters in Destin, Fla., and made many friends who came back year after year.

Sonny is survived by his daughter, Linda (Dale) Reimer of Ixonia; sisters, Beatrice Knoll and Joanne Reimer; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; a sister, Beverly Gatz; his parents, Forest and Adella (Janke) Douglas; and brothers-in-law, Donald Knoll, Milton Gatz and Lee Reimer.

Services were Tuesday April 30, at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home, 121 S. Cross St., Oconomowoc. Private burial will take place at LaBelle Cemetery.
