George Lawton Nufer, 66, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully and on his own terms Tuesday, April 30, 2013. He was born Aug. 13, 1946, in Oconomowoc, to George A. and Florence R. Nufer.

A graduate of Oconomowoc High School, George went on to work a number of jobs including Neenah Foundry and a stint at Trek Bicycles in Oconomowoc. He was a talented artist and did many projects, such as restaurant placards and signs, for his wide circle of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by a brother, Bruce, (Kathy) Nufer of Menasha, and two sisters, Phyllis Nufer of New Berlin and Patricia (Chuck) Seider of Everett, Wash. He had a number of nieces and nephews, but was closest to Margaret (David) Ekrem and Lizzie Nufer, who will especially miss her Uncle George.

George was sociable, loved to talk, a loyal friend and though misunderstood by some, had a good heart and a generous spirit.
