Carmella L. ‘Nana’ Alvarez

Carmella L. “Nana” Alvarez of Waukesha entered eternal life Wednesday, May 29, 2013. She was born in Waukesha on Feb. 7, 1943, the daughter of Joseph M. and Virginia L. (Green) Cotton. Carmella was united in marriage to Andres Alvarez on Sept. 29, 1962, in Waukesha.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Carmella enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who she adored. She will be forever remembered for helping people and caring for others.

Surviving Carmella is her loving daughter, Christine (Freddy) Hernandez; grandchildren, Austin and Briana Hernandez; and faithful companion, Benji. Also surviving are two brothers, Joseph M. (Vicky) Cotton Jr. and Mike Cotton; five sisters, Stef Alvarez, Judy (Jesse) Medina, Donna Moede, Mary Schroeder and Karen (Jerome) Jones, all of Waukesha; and sister-in-law, Jean Cotton of Florida. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Virginia Cotton; loving husband, Andres Alvarez, on Oct. 2, 2007; and by five brothers, Jake, Chuck, Richie, Paul and Patrick Cotton.

In accordance to Carmella’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation will take place. Burial of her cremains will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
