Garet Charles ‘Gary’ Acheson

Feb. 13, 1937 – Nov. 8, 2013

Garet Charles ‘Gary’ Acheson, 76, of North Prairie, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, after a 15 month battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 13, 1937, in Waukesha.

After graduation from Waukesha High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force.

Gary retired in 2002 from a career in sales for Metropolitan Life, Clairmont Transfer and Allstates Trucking. His military service continued in the Air National Guard 128th Air Refueling Group. Gary was an avid golfer and was able to claim a hole-in-one at both Eagle Springs and Peninsula State Park golf courses.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Edwin; mother, Alice; and brother, Neil. He is survived by his wife Linda (Stocks); daughter, Connie; and son, Michael. He is further survived by sons Gregory Burris, Patrick Burris, and Gerald Burris.

Friends and family are invited to gather and remember Gary from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at North Prairie Village Hall, 130 N. Harrison St., North Prairie. Private burial will be at North Prairie Cemetery at a future date.

The family will direct memorials to AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc in lieu of flowers.

Gary’s family sincerely thanks Dr. LeMarbre and the staff at ProHealth Care Cancer Services in Mukwonago and his hospice team (especially Allison). Heartfelt gratitude goes out to the staff and volunteers at Angels-Grace Hospice, where Gary spent his last 48 hours.
