Bernard ‘Bernie’ J. Heying

Bernard “Bernie” J. Heying of Waukesha died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 66. Bernie was born Sept. 18, 1947, the son of Bernard C. and Helen (Waul) Heying in Hazel Green.
He proudly served and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. Bernie graduated from St. Norbert College in De Pere. He worked as an accountant for a variety of firms throughout his career.
In his retirement, he enjoyed helping his son, Dan, with his racing business. More than anything, Bernie loved his family.
Bernie will be sadly missed by his wife, Lu Ann (Nelson), whom he married July 22, 1978; his children, Daniel Heying of Waukesha, Jerry (Jennifer) Cook of Appleton and Shaun (Bill) Tofson of Wisconsin Dells; his five grandchildren, Zach, Hunter, Aubree, Brennen and Paige; and his brother, David (Joan) Heying of Beaver Dam.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, LaVonne Spillane.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. memorial service Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.
