Melissa Sue Grant

Aug. 24, 1978 – Sept. 30, 2013

Melissa Sue Grant, formerly of Pewaukee, passed away after a sudden illness Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, in Waukesha. She was 35 years old. Melissa was born Aug.

24, 1978, in Brookfield, the dear daughter of the late Eldred and Norma Grant.

She is survived by four sisters, Lynn (Steve) Zelten, Sue (Kevin) Ashenfelter, Karen (Jerry) Schroeckenthaler and Marybeth (David) Grambo; and one brother, Ken (Denise) Grant. She is further survived by her nephews and nieces, Al (Dawn), Sara, Nicole (Will), Leah, Katy, Gregory, Madeline and Grace. Also, her Easter Seals family, other relatives and friends.

Melissa worked at Easter Seals in Waukesha in food preparation and has had the opportunity to work with the catering staff. She also worked weekends catering at the ANG 128th refueling wing.

Melissa, although having disabilities, loved her independence, friends, family and country – she was very patriotic. She loved life and lived it to the fullest without fear. She always saw the best in people, and her laughter and smile were contagious. Melissa believed in organ and tissue donation, and her legacy will live on in many people through the Wisconsin Donor Network.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 5:30 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Oct. 3, at Galilee Lutheran Church, N24W26430 Crestview Drive, City of Pewaukee, with the Rev. Jay Ford officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Easter Seals of Wisconsin in Melissa’s name would be greatly appreciated (www.eastersealswisconsin.com).

Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude for the compassion and loving care for our sister by the staff at the Waukesha Memorial Hospital ICU, especially nurses Amy, Stephanie and Alicia, and Dr. Harinder Gill and Dr. Lynn Bartl.

Yonke and Son Funeral Home, 691-1900, is serving the family.
