Dolores Johnson (nee Peterson)

Dolores “Dolly” Johnson (nee Peterson), 78, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. She was surrounded by her family whom she loved dearly.

Dolly was a kind and gentle person. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her warm smile.

Dolly grew up in Fond du Lac, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, the late James Guy Johnson in 1956. They moved to Waukesha, where she raised her family. Dolly worked at Krueger Printing Co. for 20-plus years, prior to retiring to Fountain Hills, Ariz., in 1998.

Dolly is survived by daughters, Dawn Tessmer (Howard), Linda Cortazzo (Fred) and Jill Morgan, and her daughter-in-law, Sue Schaefer. Her son, Michael Guy Johnson, preceded her in death. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Justin (Michael), James (Lauren), Vincent (Ramona), Alex (Taylor), Ben and Jenny; her great-grandchildren, Sabastian and Carter and was looking forward to her third great-grandchild due in November; and her brothers, William, Donald and Raymond Peterson.

She has chosen to donate her remains to research hoping to help and eventually find a cure for cancer. A celebration of Dolly’s wonderful life will be planned for the summer of 2014 in Milwaukee.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Hospice of the Valley in Arizona, 16117 N. 76th St., Scottsdale, AZ 85260, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in June 2014 (date to be determined).
