Clarence R. ‘Andy’ Anderson

May 2, 1933 – Oct. 20, 2013

Clarence R. “Andy” Anderson of Sussex died peacefully at his home Sunday, Oct.
20, 2013, at the age of 80. He was born May 2, 1933, in Big Bend, the son of Carl and Emelia (nee Johnson) Anderson.

On March 12, 1954, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Reed in Coal City, W.Va.; she preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 2011. Andy was known for his generous spirit, adventurous nature and good humor, along with the legendary Christmas Day celebrations he and Betty hosted annually at their former home in Waukesha.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean War, and also enjoyed traveling the world and the Great Lakes as a civilian crew member of the Merchant Marines. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, along with the many trips he and Betty took over the years including several winters spent in Port Aransas, Texas.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Sherry (Dean) Michaelis of Waukesha and Sandi (Josh) Adams of Milwaukee. He was the dear grandfather of Kelli Michaelis, Cory Michaelis and Monica (Jesse) Boyajian, all of Waukesha, and Ed (Coleen) Michaelis of Wauwatosa; and great-grandfather of Spencer, Sadie and Eli Michaelis and Bennett Boyajian. He is further survived by his brother, Don (Kate) Anderson of Waupaca, along with numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends, including Richard (Joan) Carlson and Garith (the late Virginia “Gin”) Carlson, all of Palmyra.

He was preceded in death by Elizabeth “Betty” Anderson, his wife of more than 57 years, and his sisters, Ethel Senderhauf and Marge Tio.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
