Esther S. Christenson, 94, of the Town of Ashippun, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at her residence. She was born Dec. 3, 1918 in Rubicon to Sigurd Lunde and Ellen Hansen.
Esther was married July 6, 1940, at St. Olaf’s Church, to Irving Christenson.
Esther was active at St. Olaf’s Church, serving as a choir member and Sunday school teacher. She was a 4H leader.
Esther was a graduate of Dodge County Normal School and went on to teach in the Town of Ashippun.
She was the loving mother of Louise Hartmann, Jane Christenson, Mary Hershoff, Janet (Mike) Nelson, David (Suzy), Paul (Lynn) and John (Lisa) Christenson; mother-in-law of Sylvia and Alma Christenson; and special friend of Helen Hankwitz. Also survived by 30 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irving; sons, Alfred and Roger; sisters, Dorothea and Clarice; and her brother, Sigurd.
Visitation and services were Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church, W653 Roosevelt Road, Rubicon. Her final rest is a St. Olaf Cemetery.
