Eric Johnston formerly of Waukesha, died an untimely death Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013. Eric was born May 4, 1971, to Jeanette and Cameron Johnston of Waukesha.
He graduated from Waukesha North High School in 1989 and studied at Carroll College, Nicolet Technical College and Montana State University-Bozeman. Eric and the love of his life, Erin Catherine Meyer, formerly of Rhinelander were married Sept. 8 at Cordelia Lutheran Church in Genesee, Idaho. Eric and Erin made their home in Bozeman, Mont.
Eric is survived by his wife, Erin of Bozeman; parents, Jeanette and Cameron Johnston of Moscow, Idaho; sister, Mia Johnston Ellsworth of Moscow, Idaho; sister, Siri Johnston (Randy) Ward of Troy, Idaho; niece and nephews, Britta, Gabriel and Skylar Wright of Troy, Idaho; Forrest Ellsworth and Reed Ellsworth of Moscow, Idaho; mother and fatherin- law, Teri Lyn and Greg Meyer of Rhinelander; sister- in-law, Leslie Meyer of Duluth, Minn.; and brother-in-law, Benjamin Meyer (Jessi Havel) of San Francisco.
Eric was passionate and compassionate and appreciated the beauty of everything around him. Hiking, skiing, playing his guitar, fishing and canoeing were some of Eric’s favorite activities. He was an athlete, musician, philosopher, outdoorsman and animal lover.
In addition to his family and friends, Eric also loved his two rescue cats, Cheryl and Joan. Eric and his wife, Erin, were vocal advocates of social justice and environmental protection issues. He was bright and engaging in conversation, had a great sense of humor, and is dearly loved and missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of Eric’s life is planned for Oct. 13 at Cordelia Lutheran Church in Genesee, Idaho.
