Rex W. Horner

Rex W. Horner, a lifelong resident of Waukesha, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014, peacefully at his home at the age of 62 years. He was born on January 18, 1952, the son of Fred S. and Betty J. (nee Keitzer) Horner. Rex graduated from Waukesha South High School and received his bachelor’s degree at McAllister College, St. Paul, Minn. He was the first youngest Waukesha Symphony member, always sitting in the No. 1 chair. Rex was a General Motors technician and worked at Berndt Buick for 10 years. He was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rex married Mary Ann Kuhagen on October 17, 1998. He enjoyed woodworking and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Rex will be sadly missed by his wife of 15 years, Mary Ann; daughter, Kara L. (Andrew) Schulte; a grandson, Hunter Schulte; and his brothers, Scott Horner, Bruce Horner and Todd (Mary Jo) Horner. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Julia (David) Gard, Betty (Wayne) Arnold; his aunt, Linda (Gary) Bradak; his four legged best friend, Ms. T. Bear; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Erica Horner; and stepmother, Dorothy Horner.

The visitation for Rex will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the 12:00 noon funeral service on Saturday, April 5, at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. The Rev. D. Andrew Fetters will be officiating. The burial will take place immediately following at Prairie Home Cemetery. Rex would have loved for everyone to wear flannel and/or denim to his funeral, so please do.
