Richard Kurt Bergner

June 8, 1924 – March 30, 2014

Richard Kurt Bergner was born on June 8, 1924, in Riderau, Germany. He entered eternal life on March 30, 2014, of natural causes in Brookfield. Richard married Jinette Roux Bergner in 1950; she preceded him in death in 1992. Together they immigrated to the United States in 1962 with their five children: Maryse Schaefer, Rosie Merchle, Anne-Lise DeBellis, Mario Bergner and Karen Brennan. He worked hard for his family in the hopes of a better life. He owned and operated Bergner’s Import Car Service in Milwaukee for 40 years. He was known for his ability to fix anything and create beautiful wooden treasures, which he gave as gifts to his loved ones.

Richard was an active member of the German community in Milwaukee, which gave him the opportunity to connect with his German heritage. He found great joy in singing with German choral groups and being a member of several German clubs.

Richard married Edith Knapp Bergner in 1993. Together they shared twenty-one years. He is survived by Edith, her three children: Jim Knapp, Caroll Lambert and Anthony Knapp, his five children, sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Richard knew Jesus Christ as his Savior and worshiped at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 10025 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa, where a memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, April 5, at 3:00 pm.
