James R. Mareno

James R. Mareno was received into the loving arms of our father on Monday, April 7, 2014, at age 66.

He was the loving husband and best friend of Sandy (nee Beres); dear father “Pa” of Jason (Janice), Todd (Amy), Daryl (Kay) and Vincent (Katie) Mareno; proud Papa of Jordan, Nevada, Madison, Jacob, Indigo, Sophia, Dominic, Anabelle, James and Emelia; beloved son of Clarence “Butch” and the late Armella Mareno; and son-in-law of Lucille and the late Harold Beres. He is further survived by many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by infant daughter Jodean.

Jim began his career in 1966 as a U.S. Air Force flight mechanic. He was supervisor of physical plant operations, including maintenance of all campus buildings and system utilities, at Carroll College. He shared his mechanical skills throughout his life in the health care and education industries, as well as with family, friends, or anyone in need.

Jim was born in Waukesha, a community he held dear to his heart all his life. His proud father, Clarence “Butch” Mareno, a lifelong resident of Waukesha, continues at age 86 to operate the Depot Barber Shop on Williams Street, where many fond memories were made. Jim’s late mother, Armella, instilled the value of a job well done and the joys of life.

Jim is loved by his sister Carrie (Richard) Guyer, and brothers Wayne (the late Bonnie), Nick (Ann) and Joe (Carrie).

Jim was the son-in-law of Lucille Beres, who inspired him with her unwavering faith and love. She continues to live at the homestead on National Avenue in New Berlin, which she shared with her husband, the late Harry Beres, who was a dedicated father, community leader and local business owner. Jim is also loved by sister- in-law Karen (Gerry) McNeil, and brothers-in-law Jim (Debbie) Beres, Don (Debi) Beres and Fran (Pam) Beres.

Jim was a childhood member of St. Joseph’s in Waukesha and continued to celebrate his faith at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in New Berlin.
