Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Zarse


June 26, 1951 – April 3, 2014


Kathleen “Kathy” M. Zarse, 62, of Waukesha, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014, due to complications from injuries sustained in a car accident. She was surrounded by her children and beloved sisters. Kathy was born June 26, 1951, to Ralph and Kay (Burbach) Pawinski, spending most of her young years in Milwaukee. She married Roger Karl Zarse in Milwaukee in 1970. The couple later moved to Waukesha, where they raised their children. In recent years, friendships Kathy found at the Minooka dog park were very special to her, filling her days with joy.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Roger Zarse of Waukesha; three children, Karl (Elaine) Zarse of San Antonio, Texas, Russell (Ginger) Zarse of Atlanta, Ga., and Michelle (Jeffrey) Ojibway of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Tomas, Sofia, Jackson, Lily, and Damon; four sisters, Sharon (Butch) Nelson of Shawano, Therese (William) Young of Madison, Mary Lynn Strasser of Milwaukee and Kristine (Paul) Dengel of Mukwonago; brother-inlaw, Greg (Diane) Zarse; sister-inlaw, Theresa (Philip) Zdun Hoyer; many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and her precious dog, Bear.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Kay Pawinski; mother-in-law, Angeline Zarse; and brother-in-law, Richard Zarse.

Kathy wished for a memorial celebration of her life. This will be held on Saturday, April 19, from noon to 6 p.m., at the Rotary Building in Waukesha’s Frame Park, 1150 Baxter St., Waukesha, WI 53186. Appetizers will be served as we share our fondest memories of Kathy’s life together.
