Gertrude Dora (Berg) Wilcox, 94, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Waukesha, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 15, 2014, after a long and happy life. She was born July 13, 1919, in Wauwatosa.

She grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Waukesha High School. She later graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Racine, Wisconsin. Gertrude worked as a nurse at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Milwaukee County Hospital and Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. After retirement, she volunteered as a nurse in adult day care.

In September 1941, Gertrude married Herbert Wilcox and together they raised five children: Nancy of Chandler; Charles (Joyce) of Waukesha; David (Bonnie) of Chandler; Daniel (Denise) of Racine; and Timothy (Sue) of Waukesha. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Erna Trupke of Dousman and Margaret Snyder of New Berlin; and a brother, Robert (Erline) Berg of San Diego, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, and other family members.

At Gertrude’s request, services and interment will be private. Any desired memorial may be made in Gertrude’s name to the charity of your choice.
