Anthony John Granatella
Sept. 19, 1917 – April 20, 2014
Anthony John Granatella found eternal peace on April 20, 2014, at age 96. He was preceded in death by Catherine (nee Evans), his wife of 59 years. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 12 years, Edith (formerly Wandsneider) (nee Melendy); daughters June (Richard) Vis and Elizabeth Ludlow; and son Jack (Judith). He is further survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Jeff and Karen Wandsneider for their care and concern.
Tony was born on Sept. 19, 1917, into a family that grew to eight sisters and one brother. After graduating from Lane Tech High School in Chicago, and working at the Edgewater Beach Hotel, doing everything from bus boy to lifeguard, he married Catherine and moved to Delavan. With his electrical knowledge, he got a job as a maintenance electrician at AC Spark Plug in Milwaukee. Tony moved his family to West Allis and was soon appointed chief maintenance electrician for the West Allis-West Milwaukee school system, where he worked until retirement. He was an active Shriner in West Allis, enjoyed golf, bowling and bridge. It was while playing bridge that he met and fell in love with Edith. Tony cherished his family and held them close to his heart.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at LindenGrove, Waukesha, for the compassionate care given to Tony.
