Jessie Harold, age 96, a resident at St. Mary’s Felician Village, died peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the Village.
Jessie was born on November 13, 1917, in St. George’s Grenada, West Indies. She was born to the late William O’Brien and Ethel Mary (Vince) Donovan. On March 23, 1940, she married Alfred Harold in Trinidad, West Indies. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1994. Together Jessie and Alfred moved to Waukesha in 1948 to get Alfred his dream job as an engineer at Allis Chalmers. Jessie attended Carroll College later in life, receiving a bachelor’s degree in teaching. She taught Spanish in the Milwaukee Public Schools for a few years. Jessie enjoyed dancing and traveling. She also wrote a book of short stories, which was published in London.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law: Paul Harold of Waukesha and Doug and Carol Harold of Maribel; one son-in-law, Charles Dable of Waterford; two grandchildren, Christopher Harold of Madison and Jeni Harold of Denver. She is further survived by two sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jessie was also preceded in death by a daughter, Daisy Alison Dable; one grandson, Thomas Dable; one sister; two brothers; and four brothers- in-law.
Private family funeral services were held at the Prairie Home Cemetery Chapel, Waukesha. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Kris Andrasky.
Jessie was laid to rest at Prairie Home Cemetery immediately following the service.
