Verona A. Mueller passed away after of brief illness on August 21, 2014.
Verona A. Mueller was born on June 4, 1922, in Superior, the daughter of Clayton DeWolfe and Jeanette DeWolfe Crom. She was also close to her stepfather, Carl Crom. She grew up in Duluth, Minn., and attended the Minnesota School for the Deaf for seven years. When her parents moved to Milwaukee, she attended the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan. She married William Mueller on November 2, 1946, at the Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Milwaukee. They lived in Waukesha during most of their 56 years of marriage. William preceded her in death on November 12, 2002.
Verona was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of the Deaf in West Allis. Verona and William were active members in this church and spent many hours of worship and socializing with their friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Alvin DeWolfe, and two sisters, Marcella Stilnovich and Della Carson.
Survivors include a sister, Carla Schoon of Meridian, Idaho; sister-in-law Betty Mueller of Janesville; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Eden Meadows for the quality care she received. The elders and staff cared about Verona in many special ways and became friends and family to her.
A funeral service for Verona will be held on Wednesday, August 27, at 11:00AM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church for the Deaf, 2306 S. 98th Street, West Allis, with the Rev. William Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at North Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church.
