Melvin H. Gronewold

Melvin H. Gronewold passed away in his sleep after spending his last day with his family.
Mel loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, or just sitting in his garage watching nature. He loved to rummage for antiques. He had retired from the MPS recreation department in 1990. Mel was a 50-plus year resident of the city of Delafield. He was the chairman of the city’s recreation department for many years. His portrayal of “Santa” could be seen arriving on the fire truck in Delafield for over 30 years. He graduated from Waukesha High School and Carroll College. He won state titles in wrestling while at Carroll.
Mel is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years, Christine; daughter Melissa; son Ward (Stephanie); sister Beverly; grandchildren, Monique, Allicia, Cailey, Ashley and Logan; and by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mel has joined his father, mother and brother in eternal rest.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, December 6, at St. Anskar’s Episcopal Church, N48W31340 Hill Road, Hartland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John Chrysostom Church, 1111 Genesee St., Delafield, are appreciated.
