Violet E. Matzen

Violet E. Matzen, 94, passed away in Englewood, Fla., on Dec. 8, 2014. She was a longtime resident of Pewaukee, but had lived in Valrico, Fla. for the past three years. Born in Marshfield to the late Louis and Alvina Brey, she moved to Milwaukee in 1940, where she met and married Jack Matzen, who preceded her in death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brother Louis Brey and is survived by two daughters: Sharon Roteik and husband Lyle of Englewood, Fla., and Nancy Nye and husband Richard of 

Valrico; four grandchildren: Michael Riolo, Karen Freud, Todd and Geoff Roteik; seven great-grandchildren: Sarah and AustinFreud, Michael and Christina Riolo, Douglas, Leah, and Maddie Roteik.

She is also survived by her brother-in-law Jerry Matzen, his wife Genevieve, and niece Heidi Auttelet and nephews Jerry Jr. and Mathew Matzen.

She was a loving and kind person who will be greatly missed by her family.

She was a longtime member of Galilee Lutheran church.

A memorial service will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, at a later date. Any donations can be made in honor of Violet to the American Heart Association or to a local animal rescue of your choice.
