Irene Galecki nee WierzbaIrene Genevie Galecki (nee Wierzba) of Waukesha passed away gracefully Saturday, Dec.
27, 2014, at the age of 80. Irene’s constant positive attitude guided her family through her illness.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Eugene Galecki, as well as her parents, Felixia and Anton Wierzba; her sisters Verona Woyak, Regina Kizewski, and Valeria Ganski; and brothers Martin Wierzba, Walter Wierzba, Dominic Wierzba, Raymond Wierzba and Leo Wierzba. She is survived by her treasured sisters Agnes (Frank) Bembenek, Theresa (Ervin) Bembenek, and Margaret (Edward) Wanserski. She was the devoted mother of Mary (Robert) Kral, Michael (Martha) Galecki, Kathy (David) Williamson, Anne (Chuck) Scherwinski, and Russell (Deanna) Galecki. She was the cherished grandmother of Moriah, Nora, Olga, Nadezhda, Christina, Brad, Sarah, Andrew (Lindsey), Britney (Kyle), Charlie, Hannah (Gentry), Grace, Maddy, Chloe, and Tony.

She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Irene was an enthusiastic gardener, she was proud of her perennials and always willing and eager to share plants with others.

She had a fabulous memory for what was growing where and when it would bloom. She also enjoyed cooking for her family; she had multiple recipe boxes and loved to find new dishes or desserts to cook for family and friends.

A visitation for Irene will be held today, Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 1875 N. Calhoun Road, Brookfield. Additional visitation on Wednesday, Dec.31, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha. Private entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Waukesha.
