Raymond T. Ryan

Mr. Raymond Ryan (aka Ray Ray, Whiskey Ray, Cool Ray, RTRR, Bunnie, Razor), 79, Oconomowoc, died Sunday, February 2, 2014. He was born on March 19, 1934, in Madison.
Raymond was a graduate of Oconomowoc High School, Class of 1952. Raymond served in the U.S.
Army and was deployed to Korea from October 16, 1953, to October 14, 1955. Raymond worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation from 1955 until his retirement in 1997.
On September 28, 1957, Raymond married Barbara Gronert at St. Henry’s Church in Watertown. During their marriage, Ray and Barb became the proud parents of three boys: Tom, Mike and Jim. Barb passed away on May 1, 1976. Ray married Loretta Dillman at St. Jerome’s Church on August 4, 1979, and became stepfather to Sheri, Shane and Darla. Ray and Loretta were happily married until her death on January 24, 2006. Ray was a great athlete and competitor playing Land ’o Lakes baseball where he earned the nickname Razor due to his blazing speed and sharp wit.
Raymond was an active member and past president of the former Lac La Belle Golf Club. He won the Wisconsin State Golf Association Governor’s Cup in his age bracket in 1986. Raymond was an avid bowler and member of the Oconomowoc Bowling Association, serving as association Secretary for 25-plus years. He was inducted into the OBA Hall of Fame. He organized contingents traveling to the American Bowling Congress tournament for the ‘Brothers Five” and the Oconomowoc Bowling Association for 40 years. He was also involved as a member of the Baraboo Elks Club and volunteered at the Sauk County Fair, was a member of American Legion Post 91 in Oconomowoc, and a member of the Oconomowoc VFW, and volunteered time with the Oconomowoc Vietnam Veterans of America.
Raymond is survived by four sons and their spouses and two daughters, Tom and Lisa Ryan, Jim and Beth Ryan, Michael Ryan, and Shane and Gina Dillman, Sheri Dillman and Darla Dillman, along with nine grandchildren (Jake, Maggie, Caleb, Rachael, Corbin, Katie, Tayler, Chad and Kendal). Raymond is also survived by his sister Anne Frye of Green Bay and his brother Michael Ryan (Jean) of Milwaukee. Raymond is also survived by his five sisters-in-law, Ethel Ryan of Hackensack, N.J.; Nancy Hanck (Bill) of Park Ridge, Ill.; Jean Ryan and Marge Ryan and Mary Ward of Baraboo. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends that loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers Jim, Rex and Chuck; two sisters Beatrice and Mary; his two wives; and his parents, Gladys and Richard Ryan.
Friends may visit on Friday, Feb. 7, from 4 pm until 7 pm at St. Jerome Catholic Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 8, at 11 am at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 995 S. Silver Lake St., Oconomowoc, WI 53066.
