William ‘Bill’ J. Hoppe

Nov. 30, 1938 – Feb. 6, 2014

William “Bill” J. Hoppe, 75, of River Falls died Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Hudson Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on November 30, 1938 to Norman and Clara (Christensen) Hoppe in Oconto, WI.

Bill graduated from Oconto High School. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with his bachelor’s and master’s in industrial technology. He worked for Allis-Chalmers in West Allis for 36 years. Bill married Beverly Ockler on July 7, 1962, in Menomonie.

He enjoyed his family, playing music, woodworking, dancing, camping and traveling.

Bill is survived by his wife, Bev; his three children, Bruce (Jean) Hoppe, Beth (Jon) Hoppe-Stidham and Brenda (Thomas) Hoppe-Ebert; seven grandchildren, Anna, William and George Hoppe, Levi and Samantha Stidham, and Eva and Benjamin Hoppe-Ebert; a brother, Marvin (Joan) Hoppe; four sisters, Clarice Picard, Norma Modrow, Phyllis Murphy and Dolores (Roger) Badora; and nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, February 10, at St. Bridgets Catholic Church, River Falls, at 11 a.m. with Father Gerald Harris officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, at St. Bridgets Catholic Church from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and again one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be held at the Lower Weston Cemetery.
