Joseph Paul Rowell
May 27, 1973 – Jan. 30, 2014
Joseph Paul Rowell passed away from an undetected illness at his home in Brown Deer.
Joe is survived by his father, Jeffrey Rowell; mother, Christine (Blaine) Rebillot; stepsister, Leigh (Kirk); stepbrother, Jason (Libby); his grandmother, Joyce Rowell; aunts, Pamela (Lloyd) Grunewald, Peggy Rowell, Cindy (John) Budde, Suzanne Shaw, Jeannie Major and Cindy Johnson; uncles, Mickey Goodman and Jimmy Goodman; and his many cousins.
Joe grew up in the Delafield area, graduating from Kettle Moraine High School in 1991. Joe moved into the Milwaukee area, working various jobs and living at various places on the East Side. One favorite residence was to become known as The Cramer Street Clubhouse, where Joe was welcomed as a permanent resident by its other four members. Eventually given the nom de guerre “Jonas” by his contemporaries, Joe became part of this brotherhood of friends dedicated to enriching the lives of those around them, especially those studying at Milwaukee’s area universities and who were from other countries and diverse ethnic backgrounds. Friends, food, fun and fermentations were their specialties. Their friendships have remained to this day.
Derco Aerospace, where Joe worked for 17 years, was another special place for Joe. He starting out working in a minor role in the warehouse, and eventually worked himself up into a supervisory and then a management position. His interpersonal relationship skills learned during his Cramer Street Clubhouse days came in handy when Joe traveled across the U.S., Canada, and South Africa working for Derco. Bonding with others at Derco, Joe considered his coworkers as part of his social family.
Joe became drawn to the scenic wonders of Arizona in the late ’90s when his mother moved there. Frequently traveling there on his vacations and at holidays, Joe saw the area as the spiritual connection to himself. His earth-tone clothing and home surroundings reflected that connection. Joe will soon make that journey one last time.
A memorial service celebrating Joe’s life will be held on February 15 from 1 pm to 3 pm, with a time of remembrance at 2:30 pm at the Evert-Luko Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave., Hartland.
