George A. Bemis

George Bemis of Oconomowoc passed away February 15, 2014, at the age of 82 years. He was born on November 15, 1931, to Dr. Milfred and Tannie Bemis.
George served in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS Duxbury Bay. He was a machinist for Allegheny (Good) Steel in Milwaukee. He worked for St. John’s Military Academy after retirement. George was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 91 and was in the Color Guard. George was a 1949 graduate of Random Lake High School.
He was the loving husband of Pauline; devoted father of David, Bob and Peggy (Jerry) David; stepfather of Cara (Steve) Boyer; proud grandfather of Jackson and Jenna David and Alec and Carli Boyer; brother of John (the late Gail) Bemis, Marjory (David) Lyford, Clarence (Diane) Bemis and Carol Lex; and brother-in-law of Alice Bemis and Glenn Zachow. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends and his beloved cat “Tigger.”
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward, and sister, Rose.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until the time of service at 2 PM on Sunday, February 23, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 210 Pleasant St., Oconomowoc.
