Everett ‘Lamar’ Cosby


Everett ‘Lamar’ Cosby of Waukesha found peace Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at AngelsGrace Hospice, at the age of 82 years.

He was the beloved husband of Donna for 57 years; loving father of Mark Cosby (Kathy Corsi); proud grandfather of Zachary, Brett and Jenna; and dear brother Jane (Larry) Robinson of Staunton, Va., Carol Vandevender of Hurricane, W.V., Joy (Charles) Ott of Newark, Ohio, and the late Lowell Cosby.

Lamar was a social worker for Wisconsin Division of Children and Youth in Rhinelander, Wisconsin Rapids and Madison. He then became the director of Methodist Children Service of Wisconsin in Madison. From 1976 to 1999, he was the executive director of Children’s Service Society of Wisconsin. He retired from the agency on Feb. 5, 1999. He was on the Board of Directors of the Mendota Grid Iron Club and served as the satellite director of the Milwaukee chapter. He was also on the board of the Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic.

He was an avid traveler, visiting six continents with his wife. He was also a big fan of the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed the theater and playing golf.

There will be a time of gathering on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 3:30 PM until time of the memorial service at 5:00 PM at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lamar’s name to the American Cancer Society, N19-W24350 Riverwood Drive, Waukesha, WI 53188.
