Luella G. Mann
May 19, 1928 – Dec. 29, 2013
Luella G. Mann passed away and found peace Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at the age of 85, at the home of her daughter, Debra, who had been caring for her.
Luella was born in McHenry, N.D., to Chris and Josephine Toft and spent part of her life on a farm in Robinson, N.D. She attended a one-room schoolhouse before she graduated from Robinson High School and always talked about the fact that there were only six people in her graduating class.
The family then moved to a farm in Osseo, where Luella lived until she moved to Eau Claire to join her friend Tillie working at a mental health facility.
After about a month, Tillie moved to Waukesha and got a job working at the old Resthaven veterans hospital. Tillie urged Luella to move to Waukesha because she would be guaranteed a job. Luella moved and was hired to work in the kitchen and dining room.
It was during this time that she met George E. Mann, who was a patient and being treated there. A romance ensued and approximately a year later, he proposed. They were married in Osseo in November of 1948 and made their home in Waukesha. George continued to work for the VA and Luella worked for several companies until she was hired at Amron Corp. in July of 1962. She worked there until she retired 31 years later. She was always proud of her time there.
She was an avid bowler.
She also loved to crochet.
She made beautiful afghans and doilies for many of her friends and family.
Luella was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Larry E. Mann.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Sandra (Lance) Bancroft of Sullivan, Randy E Mann of Sullivan, Michael W. Mann of Waukesha and Debra K.
