Dr. Martin Daniel Henry

Dr. Martin Daniel Henry was the beloved husband of 40 years to Aimee Monteverde Henry; father of Donna (Will) Launer, Nicholas (Stephanie) Henry and Bryan Henry; and grandfather of Ashleigh, Veronica and Cami and two twin granddaughters due in March. Dan, the only son of Martin and Margaret Henry, passed away early Thursday morning, Jan. 16, 2014, after a battle with kidney and liver complications.

Danís life was spent pursuing service and education. After obtaining a Ph.d. in philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh and a masterís in education from Duquesne University, his career path led him to university administration at the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, LaRoche College in Pittsburgh, Pa., Barry University in Miami, Fla., and the University of Dayton in Ohio, where he obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.). He also served as president at Saint Leo College in Florida and at Gannon University in Erie, Pa. After educational pursuits, his life of service drove him to take leadership roles for nonprofit institutions in their development programs, which included the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Rotary International, the American Cancer Society and Muskego Senior Taxi Program.

The family that survives him will remember him fondly as their rock, their protector and their hero.

He would do anything for his family and they will be eternally grateful to him for that.

The visitation for Dan will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 16000 W. National Ave, New Berlin, on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass in celebration of his life. The Rev. Donald Thimm will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers and in accordance with Danís devotion to service, education and the law, donations can be made to the Veterans Legal Support Center and Clinic at the John Marshall Law School (www.jmls.edu/veterans) or the Muskego Senior Taxi, W181-S8540 Lodge Blvd., Muskego, WI 53150.

Both of these nonprofit initiatives were close to his heart.
