Ellen Adell Raschka

July 7, 1915 – Dec. 21, 2013

Ellen Raschka, after a long and happy life, entered the loving arms of her Lord and Savior at her home Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Schuyler and Lottie (nee Demerit); brothers, Howard, Kenneth, Robert and Dean; son, Raymond; and great-grandson, Anthony Hahn.

Ellen married her lifelong sweetheart, Robert, in 1938 and they were the first couple ever married in the Dousman Presbyterian Church.

She was a wonderful mother to Carol Anderson and Gerald of Pewaukee, Chet (Pattie) of Ventura, Calif., and Marvin (Ronna) of Dousman. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jeff (Debbie), Brian (Karen), Terry (Ron Hahn), Karen (Bryan) Schindler, Russell (Anna), Eric (Chizuka), Jason (Mindy), Greg (Jenny) and Erin; great-grandchildren, Danyelle, DeAnna, Christopher, Zachery, Michael, Nicole, Jessica, Brandon, Christopher, Zachary, Cayden and Lucus; and great-great-grandchild, Jace.

Ellen took up residency with her family in Pewaukee in 1950, where she lived out the rest of her life. She was an active member of the Gethsemane United Methodist Church, where she was the organist for many years. She loved working outdoors, especially in her gardens where she grew and preserved vegetables for her family. She also took pride in her flower garden, where she would willingly give away or trade flowers with just about anyone. Many of her flowers were donated and cared for by her and her husband Bob where he worked tirelessly at the Pewaukee Clark House Museum.

The family would like to give warm thanks to Joan Carr, who assisted in taking care of both Ellen and Bob for several years, which allowed them to spend their latter years in the comfort of their home with friends and family.

Per Ellen’s request, there will be private services. She will be cremated and buried together with her devoted husband, Bob, at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
