Patrick F. Bolger

Patrick Francis Bolger, age 83, died at home in Oconomowoc on Jan. 20, 2014. The cause was heart failure.

Born March 20, 1930, in Milwaukee to Francis and Evelyn, he attended St. Michael’s Elementary School, West Division High School and Marquette University. Patrick proudly served in U.S. Army during the Korean War until 1953, attaining the rank of sergeant first class. On Sept. 15, 1951, he married Nancy L. Corrigan.

He lived in Milwaukee until moving to Oconomowoc in 1967.

Patrick was the owner and proprietor of “The Sportspage Tavern” in Wauwatosa until retiring in 2000. Patrick was a member of St. Jerome’s Parish in Oconomowoc. Patrick also was a strong supporter of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Patrick will be especially remembered for the decades of coaching at St. Pius X and St. Jerome’s schools, where he led his teams to numerous championships. At St. Jerome’s in the 1970s Pat established a basketball tournament that featured all of the top CYO teams throughout the greater Milwaukee area, and Waukesha and Jefferson counties.

Patrick supported the veterans throughout his life by sponsoring Homeless Veteran Stand-downs. These three-day events provided shelter, meals, clothing, medical and interview support and a job fair in Milwaukee for over 18 years.

Patrick also organized wheelchair tournaments to support paraplegic veterans for over three decades.

Survivors include sisters Beverly Klein and Barbara Karner of Milwaukee; children Colleen Rice, Patrick (Susan) Bolger of Oconomowoc and Timothy Bolger of Monroe; grandchildren Raul Campos of Orlando, Fl., Theresa (Johnny) Saenz of Brownstown, Mich., and Hunter Bolger of Oconomowoc; great-grandchildren Johnny (Gabriella) Saenz and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Patrick was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; parents, Francis and Evelyn, and brother Richard.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January, 24, 2013 at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 121 S. Cross St., Oconomowoc, from 4 p.m. until the time of vigil service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at St. Joan of Arc’s Catholic Church, 120 Nashotah Road, Nashotah.

Private burial to follow at St. Jerome Cemetery, Oconomowoc. Memorials to the family are appreciated.
