Dec. 24, 1927 – Jan. 21, 2014
John J. “Hans” Huber Sr. of Delafield died peacefully at his home Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the age of 86. He was born in Milwaukee on December 24, 1927, the son of John V. and Elizabeth (nee Mrazik) Huber, the oldest of three children.
In 1950, he married Kathleen Ann Delaney, who preceded him in death on June 19, 2012, after 62 years of marriage. Hans graduated from Oconomowoc High School and attended the Milwaukee Layton School of Art. He worked as a graphic designer at Wells Badger, Display Corporation and Huber Display; and then retired as a mechanic from Holsum Foods. He was politically active when he was younger. An avid outdoorsman, growing up on Nagawicka Lake helped foster his passion for the environment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice boating, gardening, woodworking and tinkering with projects in his workshop.
Hans will be sadly missed by his children, Kathy (Donald) Schaf of Sussex, Christine (Kevin) Schneider of Burlington, Susan Huber of Pewaukee, Judy Huber (Mary Kay Kennedy) of Eagan, Minn., Joan (Keith) Judy of Los Angeles, Diane (Steve) Sonnheim of Mukwonago and John (Heidi) Huber of Delafield; along with his 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Betty Heim of Delafield, sister-in-law Tammy Huber, son-in-law Paul Mente, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
His parents, wife Kathleen, daughter Jean Mente, grandson Michael Mente and brother Carl Huber preceded him in death.
