Darwin D. Books
Aug. 31, 1935 — June 26, 2014
Tough to the end, Darwin left us peacefully with his wife Judi at his side on June 26, 2014, at the age of 78 after battling cancer for the third time.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Judi (Jacobson) of 36 years and his four children, Brenda (Todd) Wildrick, Jolena (Alex) Presti, Louise (Jason Andalcio) Books, and Bryan Books. He was the proud grandfather of Lydia Presti and Simone Andalcio. Darwin is survived by his brothers Maynard and Dweaine Books, his sisters Charlotte (David) Markle and Sharon (Bob) Mertins, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilber and Esther, and siblings Wilmer (Diane), Roland (Judy), Billy and Darlene.
Darwin was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He was a longtime employee of Waukesha Engine/Power Systems where he worked on line and ran the Power Systems stock room. He enjoyed working on his HO model train layout as well as gardening and working in his beautiful yard.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Federico Sanchez and the Aurora Cancer Care staff; the staff of Horizon In Home Hospice Program, especially his nurse Renee Dex and CNA Ashley; along with the staff at Community Care for the wonderful care they’ve provided in his final months. May Darwin rest in peace knowing the many hearts and lives he touched.
A celebration of Darwin’s life will be held from 4PM to 5:45PM on Wednesday, July 2, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha.
