Mary Kathryn (nee Ryan) Pofahl of Waukesha passed away at home on July 1, 2014, at the age of 71, after a brief battle with cancer. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Marian Ryan, and granddaughter Cecily Lalonde Pfeifer.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jim. They were married in Owatonna, Minn., on April 5, 1974.

Mary is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kristen (Mike Baumeister) Ryan, Madison, and Pamela (Jon) Orton, St. Louis Park, Minn., and Elizabeth Orton, St.

Louis Park; sisters, Barbara (Dan) Danielson, Phoenix, Sr. Lalonde Ryan, OSF, Rochester, Minn., Judith (Darrel Johnson) Ryan, Minnetonka, Minn, and Sr. Briana McCarthy, OSF, Rochester, Minn.; an aunt, Della Cutting, Phoenix, and nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was born in Rochester, Minn., on July 29, 1942. She graduated from Lourdes High School in Rochester in 1960. She earned an A.A. degree from Rochester Junior College in 1962. She worked in public relations in a variety of settings over the years. Mary happily settled into retirement in 2007.

Mary enjoyed her family, volunteering, finding a good bargain and being a grandmother to anyone who needed one. Mary had a generous nature and will be remembered and missed dearly by those who had the opportunity to know her.

A time of remembrance will be at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha, at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.

with the Rev. Kathy Boadwine officiating. Private interment at Prairie Home Cemetery.
