George Doran Brown

George Doran Brown of the Town of Vernon passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on July 1, 2014, at the age of 85.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Lee Burress Brown, of 60 years; and was the loving father of Cynthia (Steven) Hager of Honolulu, Ruth (Roger) Collard of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Mary (Jim) Chovanec of the Town of Vernon, Georgia Brown of Falmouth, Maine, and Kathryn Porter of Mukwonago; and proud grandfather of Ellen, Steven and Katie Collard, Nick and Jack Chovanec, Georgia and Tom Porter; as well as the great-grandfather of Amie Jane Hanson. George is further survived by his sister Mary Lord Brown of Longmeadow, Mass.

George received his associate’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y., and his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in Boston.

George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Vernon Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7 at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Mukwonago from 4:30 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 6:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest on the family plot in Saco, Maine, a place where he dearly loved. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Salvation Army in memory of George.
