Mary “Rachel” Mataya entered heaven’s gate on July 1, 2014 at the age of 83.
She was born Feb. 3, 1931, in County Mayo, Ireland, and later raised in London, England.
Rachel was a devout Catholic with an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and a special affinity for the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was a tireless advocate for the rights of the unborn child.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillian Devaney; brother, Patrick, and sisters Doris, Iris and Dolores of Ireland and England.
She is survived by her loving husband, Emil, of 59 years; sons, Kevin (Kim), Barry and Mark; daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Couch and Jennifer; grandchildren, Shannon, Sarah, Kari (Andy) Sherman and Eric; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Angela, Nathan, Makayla, Blake and Trent; and brothers, Noel (Kathy) Devaney and Collin (May) Devaney.
She is further survived by many nieces and nephews throughout the United Kingdom and the United States.
The family will have a private service and interment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Waukesha.
