Harold E. ‘Harry’ Harmann
April 17, 1919 — July 3, 2014
Harold E. “Harry” Harmann, longtime Hartland resident, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2014, at the age of 95.
Harry began his adult life as a dairy farmer, moving to working in the meat business owning and running Harmann Meats from 1946 until 1973. During this time, he also raised strawberries and nursery sod. He enjoyed fast-pitch softball, bowling, golf and sheepshead. He was a member of HAAA and was instrumental in starting the Hartland slowpitch softball leagues.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Ruth (Guilfoile). He is survived by his children, Sue (Dan) Alft of Wautoma, Mark (Barbara) Harmann of Hartland, Patti Jahnke of Arizona, Jim (Patti) Harmann of Hartland and Barb Harmann of Pewaukee. Further surviving are eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition, Harry was preceded in death by his grandson Mitch, his brother, Clarence, and his sister, Eleanor.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. today, July 8, 2014, at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Highway 83, North Lake. Friends may call at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
Final rest will be in St. Clare Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HAAA or the Monches Recreation Department.
