Allan Bohachek

Aug. 13, 1940 – May 28, 2014

Allan Bohachek of Hartland died May 28, 2014, after a short illness at the age of 73 years. He was born Aug. 13, 1940, in Manitowoc, to parents Charles and Helen Bohachek, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. He earned his B.S. degree from UW-Stevens Point and his master’s degree in biology and teaching from UW-Eau Claire. In addition, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a medic for six years.

Allan worked for Bohachek Home Builders for five years and at Condura Construction during the summer for over 10 years. He was also a game biologist at the Department of Natural Resources and taught in the Delavan-Darien school district for 1 1/2 years and at Arrowhead High School. for 30 years. While at Arrowhead, he served as the wrestling coach and adviser for the Marksman and Science Clubs. His interests included hunting and fishing and he was a certified angler and hunter’s safety instructor. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, cooking, ballroom dancing and leather carving. Other interests included maple syrup production, fish taxidermy and wine making.

Allan was an active member of the WHO Club (Wisconsin House Outdoorsmen’s Club), Wisconsin County Conservation Alliance, 12 Nighter’s Dance Club, Hartland American Legion and the United Church of Christ, Oconomowoc. In Sun City West, Ariz., he was active in the Woodworkers Shop, Leather Carvers Club and the Desert Garden United Church.

Surviving are his wife Priscilla, his daughter Amy (Mike) Olson, his son Doug (Stacey) Bohachek and his five grandchildren Will, Frank and Sarah Olson and Ian and Henry Bohachek. He is further survived by his sisters Char Crabb, Judy (Kent) Herold and Dona (Ed) Bubert, and 10 nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, June 8, from 2:00 p.m. until a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. and also on Monday, June 9, at the First Congregational Church 815 S. Concord Road, Oconomowoc, from 10:00 a.m. until a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception with lunch.
