Joanne Ruth Eells Lindemann

Joanne Ruth Eells Lindemann, “The Singing Sub,” was born October 12, 1932, and raised in South Bend, Ind., to Parents Prof. LeClaire H. and Dorothy M. Eells. She was born to eternal life May She married Cyril E. Lindemann Sept. 1, 1956, and was a longtime resident of Oconomowoc.
Joanne was the dear and loving mother of six children: Kurt (Donna), Christopher (deceased), Lisa, Eric (Stephanie), Richard (deceased) (Kelly), Peter (Michele), and grandmother of 13: Zachary, Tyler, Alec, Devin, Joelle, Laurel, Grace, Erika, Nicholas, Robert, William, Joseph and John. Survived by husband Cyril, sister Karen Collins and nephews David and Patrick Collins, sisters-in-law Judy Lindemann and Susan (Jack) Hessefort, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Eells, and sons Christopher and Richard.
Joanne was a teacher. She taught at Okauchee Elementary School and was a longtime substitute teacher in the Lake Country area, famously known as “The Singing Sub.” She was a volunteer religious education teacher at St. Jerome.
“Mama Jo” starred in and directed many local plays/musicals. She was phenomenal in her roles of Aunt Eller in “Oklahoma” and Mama Rose in “Gypsy.”
Our mom Joanne was beautiful in all ways. She was a talented artist, singer and actor. We thank her for all of her love and care and sacrifices. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 995 S. Silver Lake St., Oconomowoc.
