Judith Ann ‘Judi’
Oct. 28, 1948 – June 3, 2014
Judith Ann “Judi” Solfest-Szamocki (nee Joustra) joined her loving husband, Jerry, and father, John finding eternal peace entering into God’s loving arms on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at the age of 66.
She was the dear daughter of Irene Joustra; devoted and incredible mother to her children, Christopher John Szamocki and Sandra Ellen Szamocki; special and loving human mother to Rascal, her favorite dog; cherished sister of Cyndee Zapfe (John) and Sherrie De Leon; proud and beloved grandmother of Rochelle Estes (Michael) and Samantha Gottinger; loving greatgrandmother of Vincent and Brayden; loving stepmother of Vincent Solfest; special aunt to Jason (Tami), Daniel (Jamie), Timothy (Jeanette) Zapfe, Amy Riddle (Steve), Jeffery (Brenda) Felsing, Shelly De Leon and Julie De Leon. She is further survived by great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Judi had a kind, loving and nurturing nature in all that she did and she shared these qualities with everyone she would meet in her characteristically soft, quiet and unassuming way. Judi enjoyed reading, gardening, collecting perfume bottles and spending time with her family and her dog, the “rascally wabbit.”
In celebration of Judi’s life, the family will greet friends at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha, on Saturday, June 7, with visitation from 9:00 until time of service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Pastor Dean Zemple of St. John’s Lutheran Church for his spiritual guidance and support of Judi, which sustained her during her challenging health struggles over the past few years.
In loving memory of Judi, the family requests contributions in her name be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, W406 Highway 18, Sullivan, WI 53178.
