Richard B. Maxson

Richard Bennett Maxson of Santa Ana, Calif., and Lake Beulah died May 13, 2014 at the age of 85. Private cremation and service were held. He was predeceased by his parents George Whiting and Roseanna Bennett Maxson, and his brother Daniel B. Maxson.

Born in Milwaukee on Dec. 29, 1928, Dick grew up in Wauwatosa and Waukesha, graduating from Waukesha High School in 1946. He earned an engineering degree from Northwestern University in 1951, and served three years in the U.S. Navy on the U.S. President Jackson. Married in 1952, he and his family settled in Southern California where Dick founded Carde Pacific Corp. in 1965. At Carde’s helm until its sale in 2007, Dick was a widely respected and successful leader in the supply of heavy construction equipment.

Dick loved his work. He also loved his family, his home, his lake home, his friends, music, good food and good living.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores (Cafferata); daughters Linda (Toby Miller), Seattle, Wash., Gail (Roger Pawley), Everett, Wash., Barbara Maxson Proud, Tustin, Calif., and Donna (Rob Grisham), Littleton, Colo.; sister, Georgia Maxson Calvo of Waupaca; five grandsons, three granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. He is remembered with deep affection, great admiration, and endless love.
