Emma L. Vitek (nee Feder) was born to eternal life Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the age of 88 years. She was the beloved wife of Charles F., loving mother of the late Marianne Wruck, dear grandmother of Sarah E. Wruck and Laura A. (Jeffery) Tess, the great-grandmother of Jeffery Tess Jr.

“Big JJ,” and mother-in-law of Larry D. Wruck. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton S. Feder and Alice (nee Holt).

A memorial gathering will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a 7 p.m. vigil at Heritage Funeral Homes Johnson-Reiss-Klemmer-Scheuerell-Tyborski, 9200 S. 27th St., Oak Creek. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church, 7219 S. 27th St.

Emma was a very loving person and her family meant everything to her. She was active in her community.

When her daughter, Marianne, came home from school in the second grade wanting to join the Brownies, Emma took Marianne to a Brownie meeting. Emma started out as an assistant troop leader, became troop leader, neighborhood chairman, district chairman, was elected to the board of directors of the Great Blue Heron Girl Scout council of Waukesha and became public relations director for the council. She was then elected president of the council and served two terms. She was also on the original board of directors for the New Berlin library.

Emma served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and she met her soon-to-be husband at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. She is a life member of Lamster Newmann Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2787 and now the VFW Post Auxiliary in Pewaukee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association are greatly appreciated.
