Merle A. Efferding

Merle A. Efferding, formerly of Waukesha, was born May 22,1933, in Bellevue, Iowa, the only child of Alvin Efferding and Helen (Burkart) Efferding.

He passed away on March 12, 2014, in Lake Wales, Fla. He married Florence (Wilting) daughter of Bernard Wilting and Bertha Ripp at Holy Assumption Catholic Church in West Allis on Sept. 28, 1957. They were married 56 years.

Merle is survived by two children, daughter Christine (Tina) Wolff of DePere, and son Kirk of Waukesha; six grandchildren, Rachel and Rebecca Wolff of Green Bay, Kyle (Carol) Efferding of Muskego, Leah Tuft of Waukesha, Elyse (Noah) Kelliher of Mukwonago and Deidre Efferding of Milwaukee; and seven great-grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers-in-law Bernard J. Wilting and John (Pat) Wilting, sisters-in-law Jean (Henry) Kroll and Mary (Greg) Anderson, as well as many family and friends in the Waukesha-Milwaukee area.

Merle was a retired pattern maker. He served 18 years in the Wisconsin National Guard. While being a snowbird for 16 years of retirement in Winter Haven, Fla., he enjoyed golf, card playing, daily crosswords and shooting pool. Summers were spent in Green Bay. Merle was an avid Packers fan and followed football, basketball (Milwaukee Bucks), and baseball (Milwaukee Brewers).

Visitation one hour prior to memorial at 11:00 a.m. March 24 at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Waukesha.
