Frank Both

Frank Both, 88, of Neshkoro, passed away March 27, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born December 22, 1925, in Mucsi, Hungary, to the late Anton and Teresia (Mertz) Both.

Frank lived in Hungary until he was 19 when he was displaced to Germany after WWII. He emigrated to the United States in 1950. During his life, Frank worked as a barber in Hungary, a coal miner in Germany, at Allis Chalmers, and owned his own barbershop for most of his life. In 1975, Frank and his wife, Verla, relocated to Neshkoro from Waukesha when he semi-retired.

Frank was known and loved by family and friends for being a hardworking, honest and compassionate family man, who was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed gardening, beekeeping, wood carving, watching soccer games, working in his work shop, riding his lawn mower, singing in the church choir, having a small game farm, boating and fishing at his lake home in Mercer, bowling and spending time with family and friends. Frank was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro, the Neshkoro Lions Club for 35 years and the Wood Wizards.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Joan Both of Neshkoro; his children, Frank (Christine) Both of Oconomowoc, Bertha Hulita of Berlin, Robert (Kelly) Both of Waupaca; stepchildren, Tim (Cara) Landolt of Oshkosh, Debra (Brian) Welk of Hortonville and Kenneth (Sara) Landolt of Madison. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sara (Frank) Verch, Andrea (Leighton) Hunley, Michael (Naoko) Mrugalski, Adam (Sarah) Both and James Hulita; step-grandchildren, Hannah Welk, Casey Welk, Truitt Landolt, Elias Landolt, Calvin Landolt and Orry Landolt; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Verla; sister, Marie; and three brothers, Anton, Stephan and Ernst.

There will be a visitation to celebrate Frank's life from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home, 303 W. Harvard St., Princeton, on Monday, March 31. A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank Both will be held on Tuesday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, at St. James Place, 315 N. Main, Neshkoro. Burial will follow the service at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Neshkoro.
