Kathleen Elizabeth Mundschau

April 11, 1925 – Jan. 3, 2014

Kathleen Elizabeth Mundschau died January 3, 2014, in Modesto, Calif. She was born in Oconomowoc, to L. Paul and Edna (Meuret) Mundschau on April 11, 1925.

She lived with her family in Dousman until after her graduation from Oconomowoc High School.

Kathleen served her country in three distinct ways: she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” at the Heil Company during World War II, she was in the U.S. Navy Reserves with the rank of pharmacist’s mate second class from May of 1945 through August of 1946, and she worked for the U.S. Army for four years entertaining the troops in Germany during the 1950s.

She received a degree in social services from Ohio State University, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and worked for the Girl Scouts in California for many years before going back to school and becoming a registered nurse.

Kathleen is survived by her best friend in life, C. Bonnie Feuer. She is further survived by her sister, Joan (Robert) Bucci; her sister-in-law, Jane Mundschau; and 24 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, L.

Paul and Edna Mundschau; her brother, Lee Mundschau; sisters Annette Mundschau and Janis Gallagher; and a brother-in-law, Leo Gallagher.

The visitation for Kathleen will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. memorial Mass on May 17 at St. Bruno’s Catholic Church, 226 W. Ottawa Ave., Dousman, WI 53118. The burial will take place immediately following the Mass at St. Bruno’s Catholic Cemetery.
