The Rev. Vernon H. Mickow

The Rev. Vernon H. Mickow of Waukesha, faithful servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife by his side at the age of 86. Vernon was born on May 25, 1927, in Milwaukee, the son of Herman and Lucy (Schmidt).

He proudly served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy. Vernon received his masterís degree from Concordia Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind., and was a minister of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, serving congregations in Baudette, Minn.; Rainy River, Ontario, Canada; Fort Wayne, Ind.; Granville, Ohio; Newark, Ohio; Hazen, N.D.; Kingfisher, Okla., and Sussex.

Vernon will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Grace; children, Lucy (Darrell) Douglas of St. Charles, Iowa, Laurie Mickow Bartels of Milwaukee and Daniel Mickow of Waukesha; grandchildren, Ian, Luther D., Jason, Cody and Zach; three great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn (Robert) Chapman of Safford, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Mickow of Oklahoma; and many other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Luther.

Visitation for the Rev. Vernon Mickow will be held on Saturday, May 17, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the 12:00 noon funeral service at Christ the Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3031 Summit Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. The Rev. Timmothy Heath will be officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service.
